Meet Jorge Sanchez: EU Field Service Manager

Published on
December 20, 2024

For our last Skystory of 2024, we’re proud to introduce our EU Field Service Manager, Jorge! Hailing from Colombia, Jorge not only exemplifies professionalism and dedication but also brings an infectious positivity to the office - and to our celebrations.

Wondering what it’s like to work as a Field Service Manager at Skytree? You’re in the right place. Discover Jorge’s Skystory below:

Q: What was your first day at Skytree like?

From the very start of the hiring process, I could feel the energy and focus the team brings to their work, and that was evident on my first day as well. After a warm onboarding and a tour of the offices, I could see how driven and engaged everyone was. My manager and I sat down in the social hub for an open and energizing discussion about the company’s services and operations. By the end of it, it was clear that this would be quite a ride.

Q: What do you enjoy the most about your work here at Skytree?

The lively atmosphere and the energy everyone brings to their work every day. Everyone I interact with is motivated and engaged to make things happen. While our work can be complex and demanding, the vibe remains fun and welcoming.

Q: How would you describe your growth trajectory at Skytree?

I expected changes to happen quickly for a company in a scale-up phase like Skytree, which is definitely the case. As we move toward multiple markets and large projects in different regions, we must grow our operations and services to provide the best customer support. In my daily job, I have to wear many hats, letting me learn and gain experience in multiple areas of management and technology.

Q: What keeps you motivated to work here at Skytree?

I see a purpose! Being part of a company that enables society with technology capable of extracting and reusing CO2 directly from the air with the implications this could have in the future is a great purpose to fight for. Aldo, there are many challenges and stress, the fact that I can come home being part of a team setting up the stepping stones for something bigger gives me the drive and motivation to work harder.

Q: What makes you proud of being a part of Skytree?

I believe that what we do has the potential to play a significant role in addressing climate change. Being part of a company that is willing to take the move and invest in developing such a technology is something to be very proud of.

Q: What initially attracted you to Skytree?

The concept of DAC is quite simple to understand but definitely very complex to achieve on a scale that matters. For me, the fact that a company was actually doing it was very exciting. I always wanted to work in the green-tech sector, and when I found my role, it was not difficult to take the chance. After 20 years of career in services for a global vertical transportation company,  I decided that it was the moment to use my experience in a company trying to play a role in addressing a problem that requires a solution now more than ever.

Q: What do you think is the most exciting part of our future?

As many other technologies have evolved over time, It will be amazing to see how technology scales up, optimizes, and reduces its energy consumption.  I can imagine a future where DAC is integrated into our society, with big hubs across the world sequestering billions of tons of CO2 per year and small applications able to supply CO2 to different processes in cities, factories, greenhouses, or wherever it is required.

Thank you for sharing your experience, Jorge. We are glad to have you on board and looking forward to 2025!
