Industrial Decarbonization Webinar: Where Does the Carbon Go?

Published on
September 16, 2024

As the deadline for achieving net-zero emissions nears, the industrial sector faces unique challenges in meeting these goals due to its complex processes and substantial carbon footprint as a large emitter. This webinar discussed how direct air capture and storage/utilization can drive industrial decarbonization by offering innovative pathways to capture, store, and transform CO2 from a waste product into a valuable resource. We delved into case studies, success stories, and the challenges associated with large-scale industrial projects, showcasing the impact of emerging technologies in CCUS and their potential to revolutionize industrial applications and drive the circular economy.

Moderator: Jason Hochman, Co-Founder and Executive Director, Direct Air Capture Coalition

Speakers:

Elena Nikonova, VP Strategy - North America, Skytree

Phil De Luna, Chief Carbon Scientist, Deep Sky

Our Wins in 2024

2024 has been an exciting year of growth and innovation for Skytree as we continue to push the boundaries of direct air capture (DAC) technology to capture CO₂ directly from ambient air and utilize it in a circular way to create valuable products or permanently store it to reduce atmospheric concentrations. With growing global demand for both removal and utilization, Skytree has focused on innovation, building strategic partnerships, and international expansion to accelerate DAC deployments. This timeline highlights the key milestones we achieved throughout the year, demonstrating our commitment to addressing emissions from hard-to-abate sectors and helping offset historical emissions.

Decarbonization: The New Competitive Edge for Industry and the Role of Direct Air Capture

Skytree at Indoor AgCon 2025

We’re thrilled to announce that Skytree will be at the 12th Annual Indoor AgCon in Las Vegas on March 11–12 2025. Stop by Booth #324 to see how our approach seamlessly integrates into existing greenhouse energy systems and represents the future of CO₂ supply in controlled environment agriculture. Let’s discuss your CO₂ needs and help you grow moreee you there!

Innovative air-to-growth: Koppert Cress sets new standard with DAC technology in greenhouses, backed by Division Q’s Investment in Skytree

Division Q, Koppert Cress' innovation arm, invests in Skytree's Direct Air Capture (DAC), reinforcing Koppert Cress’ commitment to lead sustainability in horticulture and become climate-positive by 2026. This collaboration will see Skytree’s DAC technology deployed in Koppert Cress’ greenhouses, extracting CO₂ directly from the atmosphere to stimulate plant growth. This initiative not only advances sustainable horticulture but also solidifies the Netherlands’ positions as global leader in innovative greenhouse technology.

Skytree and Return Carbon selected by EDF Renewables North America to develop Texas-based DAC park delivering 500,000 tonnes of CO2 removal per year

Skytree, Return Carbon, and EDF Renewables North America are joining forces to deliver transformative large-scale Direct Air Capture (DAC) facilities in Texas, with the goal of removing 500,000 tonnes of CO2 per year when sites become fully operational. With the first deployments starting in 2028, this partnership will operate the first wind-powered DAC park in Texas.
